  • Bus Driver

    Annie Wright is seeking a School Bus Driver with a valid CDL license with passenger endorsements to begin immediately. This is a part-time, hourly .75 FTE position.

    Position description 
    The School Bus Driver is often the first person a child sees on their way to school. The School Bus Driver, therefore, is essential to our school’s ecosystem, and the warm attitude and patient spirit with which the School Bus Driver welcomes each and every student is key to this partnership. The School Bus Driver is a kind and steady presence, conscious of the health and safety of the students in their charge, and diligent in communication, timing, and responsibility. 
      
    The School Bus Driver is comfortable and enjoys the sound of students laughing and playing on the bus and is able to manage these distractions while focusing on the road. The School Bus Driver must be available to shuttle the regular morning and afternoon routes as well as frequent assignments for transporting students to field trips and activities and must ensure that all students are safely and successfully delivered to and from school. 
      
    Annie Wright buses are 21’ to 27’ long and carry a maximum of 29 friendly and eager students. Currently the maximum number of stops per route is 3. 
      
    Position overview: duties & responsibilities 
    The School Bus Driver: 
    • Drives safely along designated routes; 
    • Obeys traffic laws, safety procedures, and transit regulations; 
    • Picks up and drops off students at designated times and locations; 
    • Transports students to and from athletic activities in the afternoons; 
    • Assists all students with getting on and off the bus as required; 
    • Prevents or stops unruly behavior from students and ensures safety of all students; 
    • Communicates with families via WhatsApp and the school regarding delays or any issues along a route; 
    • Fills the gas tank of the bus, when needed; 
    • Always maintains a clean and mechanically-sound bus; 
    • Attends staff meetings and participates in professional development, as required. 
    Qualifications 
    The School Bus Driver will demonstrate key elements of the listed expertise and experiences. This is an aspirational list and Annie Wright Schools encourage candidates to apply who may not currently possess, but are working on building, all of these qualities.  

    The School Bus Driver: 
    • Holds a high school diploma or GED; 
    • Has 1+ years' experience driving a school bus; 
    • Is able to communicate clearly and effectively with students, families and school staff; 
    • Practices cultural humility in personal interactions;
    • Has some experience working with children (preferably 2+ years).  
    In addition, the Bus Driver must have: 
    • A valid Washington State driver’s license, including CDL with passenger endorsements; 
    • The ability to carry out assigned route on time; 
    • No at-fault traffic accidents in the last 5 years; 
    • Clean driving record (no traffic citations in last 5 years);
    • A current Medical Examiner’s Certificate; and

    Physical Requirements 
    • Prolonged periods of sitting and driving.

    Salary & benefits 
    This position offers an hourly rate of $32.00 per hour. Benefits available to the hired candidate for the Bus Driver position include the following, subject to the terms of the applicable benefit plan:

  • Weight Room Manager

    Weight Room Manager
    Annie Wright is seeking a Weight Room Manager to begin on the first day of the winter season on Monday, November 18. This is a part time, limited duration staff position that reports directly to the Director of Athletics.

    Position description
    The Weight Room Manager serves as a coach, partner and safety supervisor, ensuring students engage the weight room safely, learn appropriate techniques, and are equipped with the necessary skills to build healthy weight training regimes. The Weight Room Manager is an advocate for safe and effective training and works with AWS student-athletes after school hours and educates them on strength training principles, weightlifting form, nutrition, and cardiovascular training, while also instructing students & student-athletes on weight room etiquette and safety. 

    To ensure teams are in optimal condition, the Weight Room Manager writes, implements, and instructs pre, during, and post-season strength training programs for teams with individualization, as needed. As a trusted health and training advisor, the Weight Room Manager researches and provides nutrition recommendations and resources for student-athletes, constructs pregame and pre-practice warm-up and cool-down routines, and educates student-athletes on recovery techniques such as foam rolling, stretching, etc. As a key member of the Athletic Staff, the Weight Room Manager is an important advocate of the health and wellness of our students, working with the Head Athletic Trainer to support activity modifications and progressive rehabilitation during return to sport, and referring student-athletes for injury evaluation as needed.

    Position overview: duties & responsibilities
    The Weight Room Manager will:
    • Oversee Weight Room management in the afternoons - 3:30 - 6:30 pm (approx. 15 hrs per week) - during each sport season:
      • Winter Season: November 18 - February 28
      • Spring Season: March 3 - May 30 
      • Summer Season: June 2 - August 15 
      • Fall Season: August 18 - November 14
      • Occasional weekend work required.
    • Create a safety course that students must pass to gain access to the weight room
    • Educate AWS student-athletes on:
      • Strength training principles and weightlifting form
      • Cardiovascular training
      • Weight room etiquette and safety
    • Research and provide nutrition recommendations and resources for student-athletes
    • Construct pregame and pre-practice warm up and cooldown routines for each in-season sport
    • Write, implement, and instruct pre, during, and post-season strength training programs for teams and individual students, as needed
    • Educate student-athletes on recovery techniques such as foam rolling, stretching, etc.

    Qualifications

    • Is First Aid/CPR/AED for adults and children;
    • Holds a valid Personal Trainer or Strength & Conditioning Coach certification through an accredited organization (NASM, ACE, NSCA, etc.), Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS) or equivalent (I.e. NSCF strength coach) preferred;
    • Has 2+ years of experience working in an athletic setting and creating programs for multiple sport types;
    • Possesses knowledge of programming for injury prevention based on sport type (I.e. Seattle Pediatric ACL Prevention Program for female soccer athletes);
    • Has experience working with small to medium-sized group athletic settings;
    • Has experience programming for pre, during and post-season athletes;
    • is able to work weekends, as required;
    • Brings a positive presentation and attitude;
    • Practices cultural humility in personal interactions;

    Physical Requirements
    The Weight Room Manager:
    • Must be able to periodically bend, kneel, stoop, squat, sit, walk, stand, climb stairs, and reach for overhead or surface level objects
    • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30–100 pounds.
    • Must be able to perform repetitive duties that require repetitive motions for long periods.
    • Must be able to use various types of equipment, including control knobs and switches.
    • Must have hand and eye coordination.
    • Must be able to clearly hear over distracting noise. 
    Salary & benefits
    This stipend position offers a seasonal stipend of $6,500 (equivalent to an hourly rate of $40) and all applicable Federal and state mandated benefits.

  • Lower School Learning Specialist, Long-term Substitute

    Annie Wright is seeking a Limited Duration, Lower School Learning Specialist to begin immediately. This is a full-time, benefited, long-term substitute position that reports directly to the Lower School Division Director. This position is expected to run a minimum duration from December 2nd, 2024 through March 3rd, 2024, and perhaps longer, to be determined.

The Lower School Learning Specialist Long-term Substitute Teacher is skilled in differentiation and appreciates a developmental approach to learning. This person has experience in the classroom and can provide needed intervention and support to students. Through professional and personal experience, this person has developed a deep understanding of meeting the range of needs of children and finds joy and love in it. They employ strategies to help students build resilience and growth mindsets that enable them to meet challenges with tenacity and endurance. 
    The work of a Lower School Learning Specialist Long-term Substitute Teacher is unique and is most successful when done as part of a team. This person will work hand in hand with our other Lower School Learning Specialist, a shared Math Specialist, and other members of the Student Support Team to ensure we are best meeting the needs of students and in partnership with their families. 
    Position Overview: Duties & Responsibilities
    The Lower School Learning Specialist: 
    • provides direct support to individual students requiring accommodations, remediation, and extension by pushing into classrooms or pulling students out for individual or small group literacy support; 
    • coaches and supports faculty to develop strategies to implement accommodations and support students; 
    • maintains communication with families about students’ needs and progress and provides parent support as needed;
    • works as part of the Lower School Student Action Team to identify, strategize on, and support students’ needs; 
    • assists in updating Individual Accommodation Plans and maintains support plan files for students with documented/demonstrated learning differences;
    • assists with daily duties alongside other members of the Lower School team, including carline and an occasional recess duty as needed;  
    • and fulfills other duties as assigned. 
    Qualifications

    Position description
    The Substitute Teacher at Annie Wright fills in for absent teachers as needed and allows a smooth transition for students to continue with their school day and week. They are experienced in working with children, and ideally have classroom teaching experience to help guide them. They are flexible and comfortable with the unknowns that come with subbing in a class in which you are not the teacher, and are able to follow lesson plans left for them, as well as coming up with additional activities should the need arise. Substitute teachers at Annie Wright are skillful at engaging children, approach them with a positive attitude and find joy in spending the day in the classroom. They are not afraid to ask for help, and are comfortable giving feedback if the day or process did not go as planned.  

    Position Overview: duties & responsibilities
    Substitute Teachers:

    • provide instruction and fulfill duties during the short-term absence of faculty; aid students in their daily tasks, help ensure their understanding of subject matter and use materials provided by absent teachers to attain lesson goals;
    • manage classroom behavior in a positive way and reach out to other faculty members for support as needed and manage classroom procedures, including taking attendance and maintaining orderly classrooms and student work, in compliance with the school’s procedures, guidelines, and policies;
    • and maintain a professional attitude in all manner of conduct with students, faculty, and parents, including a commitment to confidentiality.

    Qualifications

    • holds a BA in education or a related field (teaching certification is a plus);
    • has experience working with and/or teaching youth;

    • demonstrates the ability to cultivate relationships with students in a short period of time;
    • exhibits confidence and capability in providing instruction;
    • is willing and able to work while standing for most of the day, with few breaks to sit (especially for Lower School Substitute Teachers);
    • is available on short notice and on a regular basis, and respond promptly to requests for substituting;
    • is available from 7:30 am-3:30 pm,

    Compensation
    Compensation includes an hourly wage of $22.00/hour. Lunch is provided.
